Congratulations Boys!
Don’t you just love gay weddings! I’ve never been able to say that before and know that it wouldn’t be annulled right afterwards by the government.
The BBC reports:
Two Spanish men have become the first gay couple to be married since a new law allowing same-sex marriages.
Emilio Menendez, a Spaniard, and Carlos Baturin German, from the US, tied the knot at a ceremony just outside Madrid.
The couple have been together for 30 years. After the event, Mr German said: “Today we are even more a family.”
Spain is the third European nation, after the Netherlands and Belgium, to legalise same-sex marriages. The law allows gay couples to adopt children.
It’s just so nice to have some good news! What next, the Rove Frogmarch?
Well, speaking of good news, you’re going to see even more of Advisorjim around here and Dancing Larry is promising a more frequent return to Main Page posting here.
Sometimes, you just have to sit back and enjoy the nice stuff when it’s happening. I’d make myself a nice rum punch if i only had liquor in the house.
Posted by on 07/12 at 01:13 AMoh, and if any of my fellow bloggers have better luck than i do, feel free and add the photo from the BBC story to the main post.

Posted by DancingLarry on 07/12 at 01:38 AMah Larry, my Hero. I hope you don’t mind that i added it to the main story. I tried like hell to get that one in there but it just wouldn’t take.
And aren’t they sweethearts? And i bet the wedding cake rocked, not that awful egg whites and sugar concoction usually served. I think that junk is better shoved into faces for tacky photos than actually eaten.

Look at them! They grew up under Franco. When the word of the most reactionary elements of the Catholic Church was akin to law.
Posted by DancingLarry on 07/12 at 02:26 AMnot only that but they became lovers under Franco, if they have been together 30 years! Franco died in late ‘75, not quite 30 years ago.
Posted by on 07/12 at 02:38 AMWhat a pair of cuties. Maybe the world isn’t such an awful place after all.
And what a simple but eloquent statement: Today we are even more a family. That says it all for me.
Posted by on 07/12 at 03:28 AMCongratulations. And shouldn’t that be all we need to say?
Posted by on 07/12 at 07:01 AMThanks for that Wilfred. Nice to read some good news.
This morning I woke up to CNN spending quite a long time on the press gaggle yesterday. Maybe the press’ new aggressiveness is actually sticking?
Posted by on 07/12 at 09:11 AMI agree Matt, that statement said it all beautifully.
How long, really, how long must the rest of us wait (unless we only date Canadians and Spaniards et al)? One of the grooms was from the US, so at least one gay guy from here is married.
Madman, maybe now the press sees its own going to jail they are realizing it’s open season on them. someone should make a cartoon of journalists roaming the forest like deer and the look on their faces (deer in the headlights anyone) while Cheney and Scalia in full Elmer Fudd regalia point their shotguns ready to fire.
